Sony Debuts Its Brand New Revamped PlayStation Plus Subscription ServiceApril 9, 2022
So it has been rumored for a while now that Sony is working on a new subscription service that would be similar to Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass. Sure enough it looks like the new service has been announced but instead of giving it a new name, Sony has decided to continue using the PlayStation Plus branding.
For those unfamiliar, PlayStation Plus originally debuted back in 2010 and was required by Sony if gamers wanted to play their games online with others. However, with this revamp, Sony has added some new tiers that will provide additional benefits such as access to a library of games as well as streaming.
The most basic PlayStation Plus tier will continue to provide gamers what they had before with their PlayStation Plus subscription at $9.99 a month. It includes two monthly downloadable games, discounts, cloud storage, and online multiplayer access.
Then there is the Extra tier will offers a library of up to 400 PS4 and PS5 games that gamers can download and play and it will cost $14.99 a month. Last but not least is the Premium tier which has the added feature of being able to stream games via the PlayStation Now service. Games can be streamed on the PS4, PS5, and also PC, and it will cost $17.99 a month.
