We Probably Won’t See A Low-End 27-inch iMac In The Near Future

Apple’s iMac lineup used to consist of a 21-inch and 27-inch model. However, that changed last year when Apple introduced a new 24-inch model powered by the company’s M1 chipset, but this left questions as to what happened to the 27-inch model?

Based on the popular rumors, Apple could refresh that model later this year where it could be known as the iMac Pro (not to be confused with the previously discontinued model), but given the Pro moniker, it sounds like it won’t be cheap. For those who are hoping for a lower-end 27-inch iMac, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman suggests that will not be happening anytime soon.

In his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman says that Apple is expected to focus on the Pro model for now. He also notes that if a lower-end larger iMac was something Apple wanted to do, they would have done it months ago and maybe even launching it alongside the 24-inch model last year.

Right now, the rumors are claiming that Apple is expected to equip the iMac Pro with the same M1 Max and Pro chipsets found in the MacBook Pro refresh back in 2021. We have no idea how much it will cost, but given that it sounds like it’s going to be quite a powerful machine and combine that with a huge 27-inch display, it probably isn’t going to come cheap.
